Formerly known as Bellefontaine Conservancy, Pheasant Branch’s 160-acre site provides a panoramic view of the Capitol Building, the downtown Madison skyline, and Lake Mendota. Below this hill to the south are the Pheasant Branch Creek wetlands and several predominant springs that provide fresh water for Lake Mendota.

Where the creek intersects with the Pheasant Branch Trail, you’ll find some unique features where pedestrians and cyclists have the option of crossing the bridge or getting their feet/tires wet crossing a concrete slab submerged just below the rushing water.

  • Love the combination of stone, plants and moving water; good thing you were wearing your sandals!
