On the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus, you’ll find the Wisconsin Institute for medical research. It’s a big facility where big science happens. On the fifth floor, you will see a very unique art installation known as The Neuron Project. Designed by Madison artist Piper Vollmer, the LED illuminated sculptures bear the names of individuals, families, and businesses who support epilepsy research at UW through Lily’s Fund.
The art installation was dedicated on March 26, 2014.
In the tall Photo showing people beneath the neuron installation, look closely at the woman in the foreground on the left side. That is our friend, Wendy. She has her hands clasped as she looks up at the neurons with an expression of pure joy. When we first imagined how an art installation might inspire people to support epilepsy research, that’s exactly what we had in mind.
