The Madison Water Utility operates and maintains 828 miles of water main and 8,231 fire hydrants. One of those sturdy fellas just got replaced — and there’s a shiny new red and blue unit standing under the streetlamp tonight, ready for action. Let’s hope he is not needed anytime soon.
