Manset Sunrise

From the town dock in Manset, you can take in views of Southwest Harbor, Northeast Harbor, and the mountains on the eastern side of Mount Desert Island. Home to Hinckley Yachts and other boatyards, as well as a fleet of lobster boats, this working waterfront provides great options for sunrise photography.

Cadillac Mt. Sunrise

If you want to see the first sunlight to touch the Continental United States, Cadillac Mountain is the place to be, but only if you have a reservation. Unless you are brave enough to ascend the mountain at 4:30 in the morning via electric bike! That’s exactly what Sophie and I did to watch the sun try its best to burn through some low-hanging clouds.

Penobscot Eagles

Just south of Bangor, on the Penobscot River, you’ll find a big family of bald eagles who soar over the river watching for fish and occasionally diving for their dinner.

Stars Over Long Pond

Far from the city lights, Long Pond provides a great venue for admiring the night sky.
