I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve seen the animated movie, Shrek. One of my favorite scenes is when Shrek explains that ogres are like onions – they have layers. Donkey suggests that parfaits provide a better metaphor.

Like ogres, photographers have layers.

In addition to photography, I’ve taken up woodworking. I craft stereo speakers, and my most recent project has many layers. Traditionally, woodworkers try to conceal plywood edges, but this project takes a different approach. Using Baltic Birch plywood, I glued together 10 panels of wood then hollowed out the interior so that the edge grain would flow continuously around the front and sides.

Among my other speaker projects is one that merges my two hobbies — a vivid metal fireworks photo print that doubles as a stereo. Most are available for purchase. Check out all the details here.
