At work, Kyle sells high-tech hardware used to store and charge mobile devices in schools. At home, Kyle and Whitney enjoy the country lifestyle.
They own a small farm with a classic red barn, a lush vegetable garden, 2 precious children, and 13 hens. They just added their first rooster to the mix, which means raising their own chicks for the first time.
In the future, you might spy a couple of highland steers grazing in the pasture. For now, it’s mainly an artisinal poultry operation. Each day they collect a basket of white, brown, and blue eggs. If you’re lucky enough to procure a dozen of their best, take a moment to note the perky yellow-orange yolks staring up from your skillet. That’s evidence of the farm-fresh provenance of your breakfast.
When he’s not pilfering eggs from the pullets, Kyle also plays electric bass. Ask him if chicks dig bass players, and he’ll tell you, “Some do, but most prefer worms and bugs.”
This is the latest installment in my “True Colors in Black and White” series, in which I create distinctive portraits that showcase each subject’s unique personality, profession, or avocation.
