On many days, as I wait for the morning bus, Stephen pulls into his driveway, fresh from teaching his 6 AM yoga class. With a quick and cheerful greeting, he rushes off to get ready for his full-time day job.
This is the third installment in my “True Colors in Black and White” portrait series, and the most challenging one yet. We were shooting in the backyard in early evening sunlight, and I was attempting to light Stephen from head to toe while still keeping the background pure black. Every time we changed poses, I found myself moving light stands, adjusting flash units, and tweaking camera settings. Fortunately, yoga instructors are notoriously patient subjects.
Who should I feature next in the series?
Well done!
We’re up for it but it will have to be next week. Great shots. I’m looking forward to seeing this set up. It’s hard to imagine!
