The world is full of people reminding you to eat your vegetables. Pat wants you to love your vegetables.
Founder of Local Thyme, Pat works with community supported agriculture (CSA) farmers to develop meal plans that help customers make the most of their seasonal deliveries. An experienced personal chef, she is a contributing editor of From Asparagus to Zucchini: A Guide to Cooking Farm Fresh Seasonal Produce, and an advocate for healthier, more sustainable school lunches.
We shot this installment of the True Colors series in Pat’s driveway at about 7:30 PM, with lots of ambient light and a few curious neighbors. For a new spin on the invisible backdrop technique, I wanted to attempt a very shallow depth of field with Pat holding a chef’s knife. That meant using a neutral density filter to offset the large aperture.
Well done; I especially like the shot with Pat’s arms overloaded with veggies.
The patty pan squash looks like a head of garlic in black and white — cool! Thanks for including me in this great project!
