Volunteering at Wisconsin Public Television is always fun, but it’s not always this crazy.

Compared to a normal PBS pledge break, the annual televised auction is controlled chaos. As the co-host of Sunday night’s showcase, where we  auction off luxury vacations, jewelry, art, and other high-value items, I did my best to follow directions and hit my marks. But this is live television, and I’ve been known to go off script a wee bit, all the while perspiring profusely under the hot lights in my rented tuxedo.

Thankfully,  we have trained professionals in the studio who keep the show moving along, and generous viewers who keep the bids coming.
