The weather outside is yucky, so what’s a photographer to do? Reverse lens macro shots, of course!

I went to a short workshop on macro photography sponsored by The Camera Company in Madison. The instructor covered various ways to capture those wonderful up-close photos, including pricey macro lenses, extension tubes, macro filters, and — my favorite — the reverse lens adapter.

Sure to be a hit at your next cocktail party, this understated gizmo screws onto the filter threads of your favorite lens, then lets you mount the lens bass-ackwards on your camera.  Then, you’re ready for all-manual up-close shots.
