People volunteer at Lily’s Luau for many reasons. Many have a direct connection to epilepsy. Others just want to do something positive with their spare time.
With each passing year, the circle grows a bit wider, and new people find their way into Team Luau.
This was Carleigh’s introduction to the Luau. She rolled in bright and early this morning with mom, dad and sister in tow. The family spent the whole day working, and stayed well into the evening. Carleigh’s dad was on hand at midnight to assist with cleanup.
They thanked us for the opportunity to work so hard.
Carleigh lives with epilepsy. She is the “1 in 26.” She is also part of a growing movement of people who proudly and loudly show their support for a cause that has lingered in the shadows for too long. I grabbed some photos of these happy volunteers, along with some of the hardworking staff from Union South.
I am thankful for all the generous people who gave money to support our cause, and I’m mindful that Carleigh, her family, and a joyful army of volunteers made it possible.
And I wonder… What new faces will find their way into our family next year?
