It seems like yesterday when our daughter, Sophie, needed permission (and an escort) to walk to the neighborhood store for a bottle of pop. These days, she moves about the Windy City with confidence and style, pointing out her favorite breakfast spots and study nooks.

Sophie returned to DePaul University today, following a well-earned winter break. As a first-year communications scholar, she’s been hitting the books hard, and photographing her new urban environs at the same time, squeezing terrific stuff out of her Nikon D40’s modest megapixels.

With the new quarter came a new room assignment, so today was move-in day all over again. The new digs are nice, and the skyline views from the 6th-floor study lounge are especially sweet.

Better yet, the new dorm has elevators, so her tired old dad didn’t need to lug boxes up stairs today!

“What are you doing for justice?” Move in day at DePaul.
