Betsy is the first person to volunteer for my Blue Chair Project (working title), in which I seek to photograph people in this distinctive chair in unusual settings. Betsy was one of several friends who suggested placing the chair in water. Betsy wanted to feature the standing water on North Shore Drive in Madison, the result of heavy rains that have pushed Lake Monona over its banks. With her orange life jacket and diminutive umbrella, Betsy’s ready for more rain. The chair, on the other hand, might get a little soggy. Perhaps I should have it Scotchguarded? In any case, we are off to a fine start with my latest photographic whim. If you have a suggestion about where I should stage my next Blue Chair portrait, please leave your comments below.
