The 105-acre Pope Farm Conservancy sits atop 3 recessional moraines in the Town of Middleton, where 3 watersheds come together.

The Art Pope family did not want this scenic property developed, so the Town of Middleton agreed to establish a park there.

The Grand opening took place in 2006. Many volunteers came forward to help with the interpretive signs including professors from the UW-Madison and prominent historians. Representatives from the State Historical Society, UW-Madison’s Archeology and Anthropology departments, the Wisconsin Geology Museum, and the Wisconsin Geological & Natural History Survey have helped educate grade school students at Pope Farm Conservancy.

  • I grew up down the road from here, when it was still all country living. Popes were our neighbors. It’s a beautiful view from there. They had sheep that would graze in this area. Love the rock wall. My brothers used to help the neighboring farmers remove rocks from their fields. It was a strenuous job!
