Temperatures outside are plummeting, but preparations for Lily’s Luau are really heating up. Along with the usual logistical challenges and last-minute details, we can always count on a few software glitches and other surprises to keep things interesting.

Amidst the turmoil, it’s reassuring to see that some things going according to plan. Such was the case today at Tilt Media, where Dale, Scott, Gavin, and others were working on the video.  Make that videos…as in more than one.

“Whose idea was it to crowdsource this project and invite people to submit home video from their smartphones?”

I had the pleasure of serving as backseat editor and producer, as these experts stitched together a disparate assortment of soundbites and snippets, showing attention to detail and listening to our feedback, as if we were paying clients. Is this considered artisanal video production? It should be.

These guys are not the only people who are on task. Our decorations crew will almost certainly raise the bar — tiki bar, that is – as they transform Union South into a tropical paradise with flair. The silent auction team has assembled an impressive array of donated items, and many, many others deserve credit for their tireless work.

I will devote more posts to our awesome army of volunteers and our committed cadre of corporate sponsors. For today, I’m just happy to see that things are tilting in the right direction.
